Michael Freeman, M.D., DMH

Michael Freeman, M.D., DMH is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute, U.C.S.F. School of Medicine. He has served on the staff of the Affective Disorders Program at Langley Porter, where his training and clinical service focused on the treatment of people with mood and anxiety disorders. Dr. Freeman holds advanced degrees in medicine, psychology and public health. He is licensed in California to practice both psychiatry and psychology. He maintains an active  private practice in Kentfield, CA, where he specializes in bipolar and other affective disorders. He also assists public behavioral healthcare agencies to establish programs to treat these disorders. Dr. Freeman is a committed consumer advocate who facilitates evidence-based, outcomes-driven and recovery-oriented service development. Dr. Freeman has extensive experience in behavioral health service development. He was the founding Corporate Medical Director of United Behavioral Health, and he created the Behavioral Healthcare Tomorrow Dialog Conference and Journal. He currently consults to public and private sector behavioral health systems. Dr. Freeman`s research explores this facinating relationship between bipolar endowments and high acheivement. Based upon this understanding, he also serves as a consultant to passionate contributors in business, the professions, and the arts.
