Janis Abrahms Spring, Ph.D.
is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology and a clinical supervisor in the Department of Psychology at Yale University. Her private practice in Westport, Connecticut deals largely
with couples who are confronting infidelity issues, making her one of the few psychotherapists in the country with this specialty. She is the recipient of the Connecticut Psychological Associations award for
“Distinguished Contribution to the Practice of Psychology”.
Now in its 18th printing and published in 11 countries, her book After the Affair: Healing the Pain and Rebuilding Trust When a Partner Has Been Unfaithful is based on 24 years of clinical practice and presents an
integrative model for treatment of infidelity. This book won finalist recognition in two categories of the Books for a Better Life Awards: “Best First Book” and “Best Relationship Book.” Her second book How Can I Forgive You? The Courage To Forgive, The
Freedom Not To, was published by Harper Collins in February, 2004
Dr. Spring received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Connecticut and did her postgraduate training with Aaron Beck, MD at the Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania.
A warm, engaging speaker whose workshops consistently receive outstanding ratings, Dr. Spring has taught at professional conferences at such places as Harvard Medical School, Smith College
School of Social Work, and the Cape Cod Institutes. She frequently appears as a guest expert on television and radio programs such as CBS and Fox News Network, and is often quoted in popular
magazines and newspapers such as the New York Times and the Washington Post.
