Description and Resolution of Potential Conflicts of Interest

The following speakers/planners have disclosed relevant financial relationships that create a possible conflict of interest. The speakers/planners have agreed to give their presentations in an unbiased manner, and have further agreed to resolve the potential conflicts as described below:

David Burns, MD authors and sells a toolkit comprised of clinical forms and other materials.  He mentions this product during the workshop. In addition, books by Dr. Burns as well as by other authors are sold by Institute representatives outside the training room. Dr. Burns agrees to (1) mention other, similar products and CBT materials during the workshop, (2) refer to generic rather than brand names when possible, and (3) to present his workshop on the basis of best available information.

John Briere, PhD is the author of certain testing materials used in conjunction with the diagnosis and treatment of trauma patients.  He may mention one or more of these materials during the workshop.  In addition, books by Dr. Briere as well as by other authors are sold by Institute representatives outside the training room.  Dr. Briere agrees to (1) mention other, similar products and CBT materials during the workshop, (2) refer to generic rather than brand names when possible, and (3) to present his workshop on the basis of best available information.

Daniel Amen, MD is the director of the Amen Clinics, for-profit treatment centers involved in the use of scanning technology as well as in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD and related disorders. His clinics also sell books and other educational materials. Dr. Amen may mention his clinics and/or these products/services during his presentation.   Dr. Amen agrees to (1) mention other, similar products and services during his presentations, (2) refer to generic rather than brand names when possible, and (3) to organize and present his educational activities on the basis of best available information.

Laurel Parnell Ph.D. has partial ownership in a company that makes a bilateral stimulation device.  The use of such devices may be mentioned during her workshop.  Dr. Parnell agrees to (1) mention other, similar products and materials during the workshop, (2) refer to generic rather than brand names when possible, and (3) to present her workshop on the basis of best available information.
