Statement of Need:
Everyone worries to some extent.
In moderation, worry can provide a motivating, positive force. However, excessive worry is inhibiting, destructive, and exceedingly uncomfortable – and can be extremely difficult to stop.
Course Overview:
In this study, Dr. Hallowell will help you understand and deal with excessive worry – whether it occurs in your clients (adults and/or children) or in yourself. He provides
a psychological and biological framework for understanding how worry weaves its way into most people’s lives. You will learn to assess the nature and intensity of worry in yourself and others as well as the most
powerful medical and non-medical treatment strategies available, including a review of current recommended medications.
Dr. Hallowell discusses a variety of non-medical interventions, such as EMDR and selected cognitive therapy techniques that have been found particularly useful in reducing chronic worry.
